Professional Standards Committee Charter The Professional Standards Committee is the WFOA's medium for communication with and about standard-setting bodies, including GASB, GFOA, GAO, and the SEC. To facilitate communications regarding relevant proposed changes in governmental accounting and auditing standards, encourage and provide technical resources for the implementation of adopted standards by member jurisdictions. Committee Goals or Desired Outcomes · To ensure that WFOA and its members are aware of proposed and adopted changes in governmental accounting and auditing standards; · To ensure that WFOA and its members respond effectively to proposed changes in governmental accounting and auditing standards; · In conjunction with the Education Committee, provide forums and training sessions on proposed standards and the implementation of new standards; · In conjunction with SAO, to provide technical resources for interpreting and applying standards. Success Measurements Key success measurements will include: · Provide for publication in each WFOA newsletter status updates for all proposed and newly adopted standards; · Responses acknowledged by standard-setting bodies; · Training sessions offered and ratings by attendees; · Utilization of WFOA Website for information and links to resources for interpreting and applying standards. Committee Roles and Responsibilities Committee Chair: · Assign committee members' responsibilities; · schedule meetings of committee; · facilitate and support committee members' establishment of forums and training sessions; · serve as liaison with Education Committee; · Chair will be responsible for reporting in a timely and concise fashion to the WFOA Board of Directors on the progress of all Professional Standards Committee goals and desired outcomes; · Serve as liaison to Government Finance Officers' Association. Committee Members: · Monitor activities of standard-setting bodies; · Identify issues that WFOA members need to be aware of and/or respond to; · Create forums for discussion of proposed standards; · Elicit and coordinate input to standard-setting bodies; · Develop strategy for training on new standards; · Maintain professional standard links and resources on the WFOA website.
