The Accounting Manager is responsible for a wide variety of complex accounting tasks and analysis associated with maintaining a complete set of books, preparation of financial statements, and assists in the development of operating and capital budgets. The ability to exercise independent judgment, interpret and apply government accounting standards, generally accepted accounting principles, responsibility for the accurate and timely completion of assigned tasks, and effectively and collaboratively interacting with all staff to meet the common objectives are essential to success in this role.

The Accounting Manager at Bellevue Convention Center Authority (BCCA) manages the day-to-day accounting operations of BCCA and performs such duties as assigned by the CFO. He/she performs a wide variety of complex accounting tasks and analysis associated with maintaining a complete set of books, preparation of financial statements, and assists in the development of operating and capital budgets for BCCA. His/her work involves exercising independent judgment, interpreting and applying government accounting standards, generally accepted accounting principles, responsibility for the accurate and timely completion of assigned tasks, and effectively and collaboratively interacting with all staff to meet the common objectives of BCCA.
Responsible for the timely preparation and review of financial statements in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and GASB.
Coach, mentor and develop direct reports to ensure that Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll are processed in a timely and accurate manner, with a high level of quality and good customer service.
Manages periodic physical inventory of capital and small and attractive assets.
Provides timely cash position reports to the CFO and recommends or executes the transfer of funds between the operating account and the investment accounts as authorized.
Review journal entries, weekly check runs, and payroll for accuracy as prepared by accounting personnel.
Reviews, audits, and performs cash counts of vault and petty cash funds.
Maintains legal reserves and amortization and interest schedules related to long term bonds.
Develop accounting policies and procedures to ensure sufficient internal controls are in place, and make recommendations where needed.
Reviews sales, local, and state tax returns and regulatory filings.
Assists in coordinating, developing, and compiling departmental operating and capital budgets and participates in presentations to management and the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors.
Leads other special projects as requested by leadership.
Coordinates the financial and accountability audits by the Washington State Auditor’s Office and ensures recommendations are implemented.
Ensures the timely completion and review of balance sheet reconciliations.
Files annual unclaimed property report with the Department of Revenue.
Assist the CFO with financial analytics and forecasting.
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
Four years of professional level accounting experience, including the preparation of accrual basis financial statements, and account reconciliations.
Minimum of two years’ experience in supervising a professional accounting staff or in a lead capacity.
Proficiency with MS Office, specifically a high proficiency in MS Excel.
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Experience in governmental accounting.
Experience with Great Plains accounting software.
Other equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
CERTIFICATIONS OR LICENSES
This position manages a team of up to three employees of the accounting department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee works indoors in an office environment utilizing standard office equipment including personal computer and associated software and peripherals.

POSITION TYPE / WORK SCHEDULE
This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.
