There is one opening with the Yakima County Financial Services Department This position is responsible for providing counsel to the Senior Director of DOC, to the BOCC and Financial Services Director and communicate with State Auditor’s Office representatives and Elected Officials Department Heads.

Primary Duties

Essential Duties:
Supervises technical level staff for the Department of Corrections. Prioritizes, assigns and monitors work; evaluates employee performance; initiates and implements decisions regarding employee selection and training. Coordinates and participates in disciplinary action as needed in conjunction with management. Functions as lead to Financial Services employees as needed.

In conjunction with senior management, develops, plans, administers, organizes, coordinates, audits, monitors and evaluates the Department of Correction’s fiscal operations, including the operations budget, budget development, identifying resource needs and providing technical and fiscal forecasting and oversight.

Coordinates, administers, monitors, audits and evaluates all Department of Correction’s internal and external revenue and expense contracts.

Develops, plans, administers, organizes, coordinates, monitors and evaluates Yakima County’s General Fund and other agency and district operational budgets.

Implementation and management of financial and operational systems for the Department of Correction and other Yakima County departments.

Performs other duties as required.


Experience and Training:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business Administration AND five (5) years of progressively responsible financial / accounting experience, including two (2) years in a supervisory capacity and managerial capacity OR an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
