Description:

Under the direction of the CEO, the Comptroller provides direction and oversight to the Seattle Southside Regional Tourism Authority’s (RTA) accounting, financial reporting and internal control functions. The position is responsible for establishing and maintaining organizational accounting systems and procedures and training staff in their use. The Comptroller produces the Annual Financial Report and manages the annual audit process. Additionally, the position functions as a trusted advisor to staff members; attends Board meetings, serves as a resource to various Committees.

Primary Duties

The Comptroller is an executive team member in a one-person finance department. The Comptroller provides financial and administrative services to other RTA departments, the CEO, Board of Directors and the business community. The Comptroller is responsible for cash collections and depository activities, investment of all RTA funds, and responding to customer inquiries and concerns. In addition, the Comptroller maintains the general ledger as well as accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll functions. Maintains continuous inventory records for all RTA owned fixed assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and five or more years of relevant experience including payroll.
• Experience with budget preparation and maintenance.
• Extensive experience applying financial and accounting practices, including reporting information.
• Knowledge of state auditing, tax, wage and security reporting.
• A minimum of three years of managerial experience.
• Strong ability to recognize and set priorities.
• Ability to use diplomacy and tact to establish and maintain long-term positive relationships with stakeholders, employees, peers, patrons, and our communities.
• Ability to effectively manage their own time and meet deadlines.
• Effectively communicates with diverse populations in both written and oral formats.
• Expert knowledge of relevant computer systems and electronic resources.
• Knowledge of BARS (Budget, Accounting and Reporting System) coding system.
