The Washington State Department of Transportation’s (WSDOT) Internal Audit Office serves as a resource to management by helping the agency succeed in its mission. WSDOT regularly receives a significant amount of external audit work each year. This includes performance audits administered by the State Auditor’s Office (SAO) and the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Committee. External audit work could also include financial and accountability audits administered by SAO, Federal Highway Administration, US Department of Transportation and others. This External Audit Liaison position is a key member of the Internal Audit Office’s management team and works directly with external auditors to discuss the scope of work and their results on an ongoing basis. Timely communication between executives, subject matter experts and audit teams sets the tone for a constructive audit for the Department, and for the Department’s stakeholders to be prepared for the publication of audit results. This position will be responsible for the successful facilitation of communication between these groups.
The Internal Audit Team is looking for someone who is thoughtful and has a track record of making decisions using solid judgment. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with all levels of employees, with a variety of disciplines within the Department.
