The Washington Fire Commissioners Association (WFCA) is seeking a finance professional with human resources experience to join its small, dedicated team. The association provides major research, administrative education, legislative representation, health and welfare programs, networking opportunities and other benefits to its member fire districts and regional fire authorities.
Manage all aspects of association finances: deposits, invoices, receipts, payroll, bill pay, report preparation, tax forms, etc. Prepare annual membership dues billings, seminar/conference registration and other invoices, prepare information needed by State Auditor’s office to satisfy audit requirements. Manage general aspects of office workflow, maintain personnel files, supervise and assist employees with benefit information. Coordinate and order conference promotional items, process conference/seminar registrations, serve as on-site contact at events, provide administrative and financial services for the association-sponsored health care program, complete requests for wire transactions, answer/route telephone calls, mail and email.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred; experience directly related to job requirements may substitute for degree. Candidates must have minimum of five years’ experience in related position, must be proficient in computerized accounting system, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, have budget and forecast experience, have ability to contribute to budget strategy sessions, possess excellent communication skills (oral and written), have a collaborative work style, an outgoing personality, and be open to feedback. Candidates must be self-driven, with the ability to work highly independently, have supervisory experience, be willing to travel throughout the state on occasion, which may include overnight stays, and be willing to work the occasional 40-plus-hour work week, which may include evening and weekend workshops, meetings and conferences. Must have valid Washington State driver’s license, car insurance and reliable vehicle. Must possess excellent work ethic that includes punctuality, reliability and accountability.
