We seek an Associate with experience in financial, economic, and/or policy analysis to work on a range of engaging public policy and management consulting projects on topics that may include transportation, housing, land-use planning, parks and recreation, and education. The Associate will work on projects such as market and demographic analyses, cost of service studies, municipal service delivery, tax burden analyses, economic impact analyses, and funding feasibility studies, as well contribute to BERK’s broad profile of work.

Primary Duties


REQUIRED SKILLS. The candidate must be passionate about local policy issues and prepared to contribute in a fast-paced environment. Specifically, we are looking for:
 Experience with Excel-based financial, economic, and/or public policy analysis
 Ability to organize and manage quantitative data and analysis in a team setting
 Ability to analyze public sector budgets and/or funding mechanisms
 Ability to conduct research, preferably including legislative and city code review
 Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously
 Ability to understand and communicate complex technical information and concepts
 Excellent analytic, writing, and presentation skills
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE. We seek multi-talented, multi-dimensional team members with at least two years’ work experience and additional skills that could include: public finance, financial modeling, performance measurement, and survey design and analysis. Specific interest and experience in policy areas such as transportation, housing, human services, real estate, or economic development are also highly desirable. Prior consulting experience and relevant graduate degree (e.g., public policy, public administration, public health, business, finance, planning, economics) are preferred.
