We are currently recruiting for a payroll specialist to join our finance department. This position supports the agency’s mission by providing timely and accurate validation, auditing, processing and analyzing of the Agency’s payroll. We are looking for candidates who possess excellent skills in independent judgment in the interpretation and application of payroll rules and procedures and who can perform a variety of accounting functions including maintenance and analysis of financial records and accounts.

Primary Duties

Process, audit and review Agency payroll
Interprets and applies broad range of employment laws, regulations and procedures as they relate to the payroll function
Interprets and applies collective bargaining agreements to ensure proper application of contracts
Prepare bi-weekly, quarterly and annual payroll taxes and assessments; prepares W2’s, and all other required payroll reports
Research, analyze and resolve issues relating to payroll and general accounting transactions
Assist in year-end closing and year end payroll functions
Act as a resource for employees, assist with questions, and problem resolution
Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent and one year of vocational or college-level accounting training. Must have a minimum of two years payroll experience and/or accounting experience using computerized accounting systems. Additional related experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
