Senior Accountant is a new position for the agency. Looking for someone with strong accounting skills who is a flexible team player. The Agency works in 4 counties on the Olympic Peninsula; this position is located in the Port Townsend Administrative office. Our work is primarily funded by Federal and State grants. Will work directly with the CFO to conduct day-to-day accounting functions for the agency. Knowledge of GASB and GAAP desired. Knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting and budgeting, preferably with non-profit and/or governmental entities.
Senior Accountant (SA) will have overall responsibility for the general ledger with oversight of the balance sheet; will prepare monthly grant billings from multiple funding sources, and will assist the CFO with preparation of the annual audit report and agency budgets. The SA will work closely with the Staff Accountant and Accounting Assistant serving as their lead person for routine accounting and system guidance; will serve as backup payroll processor. The SA will process or review routine banking transactions, and will perform monthly bank reconciliations for CFO review. The SA may participate in subcontractor assessments and monitoring.
BA in accounting, finance or related field and 3 years of accounting, financial analysis and/or full-charge bookkeeping required. 2 year accounting degree with 7 years full charge accounting experience considered. Government and Grant experience highly desirable. Experience with integrated accounting systems, and PC based email, word processing, spreadsheet and data base applications. Must be proficient in EXCEL Good communication skills (oral and written). Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships.
